Once again we are immersed in kitten season. Dylan is the lone survivor of his litter. The hardship of being born on the street takes many wee lives. Young inexperienced moms like Mia Simone struggle to provide for their kittens, but without adequate food and shelter their efforts are often in vain and their survival too is at great risk. Once rescued mom cats and kittens need a temporary home until the kittens are old enough for adoption. The foster committment required is usually 10-12 weeks. If you would like to be involved in providing care for the desperately needy please submit a foster/adoption application or a volunteer application. A FRFA volunteer will contact you to discuss possibilites and provide details.

Misty is a pleasant and sociable sort. It is important to her to be involved in the day to day running of a household. Though it is impossible to be a tortie and not be a little opinionated she is always polite. She loves to have a good chat about the days events and provide you with direction on what needs your immediate attention. Being a bit of a mother hen, Misty needs a home that values and enjoys feline participation in all they do.
She is equally pleasant and sociable with other agreeable and well mannered felines.
Misty has one specific requirement. She is passionately fond of fresh and flowing water, no still bowls for her, only a proper water fountain will do.

Misty is one of our seniors. She is a spry and sassy sixteen year old, in good health for her age. She minces about like Bette Midler and makes it clear to all that she expects the respect an elder deserves.
Misty is a delightful companion. Though she isn’t much for gabbing she is a powerful communicator and a persistant one. Meals at apropriate times are a must for her. Capturing you with an intently focussed stare you are compelled to stop whatever you are doing and immediately attend to her request. Dry cat food, in her opinion, is not food at all. She has a zestful appetite for canned, but for nicely gravied poutry only.
Misty has shown tolerance for other cats, but no real fondness. She would be most content with a kind and quiet adult or two, willing to cater to her exclusively.

No one could say for sure when Fred first showed up. Like countless other street cats he went about his day to day mostly unnoticed, struggling to survive. Fred was fortunate to find shelter in an elderly woman’s garage. Once discovered the woman kindly permitted him to stay and ensured he would not starve. Both were respectful but a little fearful of the other, neither tried to pursue a more personal relationship. Sadly the woman passed away suddenly and with her went Fred’s sliver of security. Grizzled black and scruffy, sporting the pungently unpleasant cologne of an intact male did not make Fred an attractive companion cat consideration. Those aware of Fred’s predicament thought it best that he be disposed of. But one who had volunteered with us long ago knew of his plight and wanted to help. She was adamant that she could and would do whatever was necessary to see that Fred was rescued: the elderly woman would have wanted it that way. Arrangements were made for him to go directly to the veterinarian for a much needed neuter, vaccinations and an ID tattoo.

A pitifully frightened and forlorn Fred was discharged to us. We quietly tended to his needs, taking care not to offend or scare him further. Delectable tidbits and gentle words of reassurance were offered, but Fred remained frozen in fear. In an attempt to make him feel more secure a plush and poofy baby blue bed was offered. He slipped silently into its cushy depths and within moments began kneading like a nursing kitten. Fred loved that bed! The following day he was blissfully lolling to and fro darn near beaming at us. We do not know why the gift of that bed had such a significant impact on Fred. Perhaps it brought back a distant memory of when he had been safe and well loved. Regardless, it provided a fast track to his heart and his trust. Fred is now an utterly fearless feline though we wish he would practice a bit of caution for he is often directly underfoot vying for attention. He is an adoring companion, keeping a watchful eye on those that are important to him. He would do well with an equally adoring person or two that enjoy lounging about with their favorite one and only feline friend. Fred had so little for so long he would rather not share his people.

Rescued from the reserve, they were little more than scraps of dirty fur and bone when they arrived. Frances, committed to never knowing another hungry moment in this lifetime, is immensely proud of her most abundant girth. Fritz is adamant that his sister needs to exercise more if she is going to keep eating like THAT! They share a comical sibling relationship, poking and bugging, but are deeply devoted to each other. They will never forgot their time with only one another to depend upon. Frannie and Fritz have grown into warm, gentle receptive cats, maintaining a sweet kitten mentality. They still need to be invited to join in, but are delighted to be asked. They would thrive in a home that gently supports and encourages those that they love.
